You can help protect dogs from a cruel death for fear of rabies
In Africa and parts of Asia, stray and free-roaming dogs are victims to mass culling’s, but family pets are also at risk.
People fear dogs as they carry the rabies disease, which kills an estimated seven people every hour. The only way people know how to deal with this fear is to kill the dogs – often having to resort to inhumane methods such as clubbing, hanging or poisoning.
Up to 10 million dogs are inhumanely killed every year in the name of rabies or other conflicts.
That equates to 20 dogs slaughtered every minute.
These animals need your help to show people and governments there is a better way to stop the spread of rabies. All it takes to end this cruelty is a simple vaccination.
Thanks to people like you, we have been working with governments in Kenya and Sierra Leone to help them achieve their (and the UN’s) goal of eradicating and stopping all deaths associated with rabies by 2030.
Our priority is to eradicate rabies so that it can stop being the driver for mass culls of the dog population. To eradicate the disease over time, 70% of a community’s dog population need to be vaccinated every year.
This will create a barrier of healthy, immune dogs which stops the spread of the disease and, in time, eradicates it.
Your generous gift could help:
- vaccinate, collar and provide a certificate for dogs during vaccination drives.
- sterilise and provide antibiotics for dogs.
- train teachers to educate students on rabies, dog welfare and responsible ownership.
- Stop needless culling, and prevent all deaths associated with rabies by 2030.
Thank you for all you do to move the world to protect animals.
