You can help save lives today
Right now, animals in Mongolia are starving and freezing to death.
These are the deadly consequences of Mongolia’s ‘dzud’; a natural disaster that occurs when a harsh winter follows an extreme summer drought.
Animals are left weak from the lack of food in summer and many die during a harsh winter that follows with temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees.
Animals must push through the snow and ice to get to any remaining food. Due to the dry summer, the food that is left can offer little or no nutrition. The constant search for food can leave animals with injuries to their sensitive noses or mouths. Their legs can also often freeze which can render them immobile and vulnerable to freezing to death.
From March to May (Spring birthing season) is when many animals are at their most vulnerable. Pregnant mothers may not have the strength to give birth or care for their young when born. Mortality rates can rise rapidly.
Herding families care for their animals individually and often brave the cold to help their animals survive. They do everything from rubbing their legs to help circulation, to helping mothers stand so their young can feed, and they even shelter some animals in their family home.
With a generous gift today, you can help animals suffering through the dzud survive, by providing emergency nutrition packs, and help other vulnerable animals around the world.
The nutrition packs include milk powder, fish oil and essential vitamins and minerals, and are being delivered to the areas most heavily affected.
Please give generously.
$64 could help provide one emergency nutrition pack to assist 83 animals.
$7 could help provide fish oil to assist 15 animals.
$45 could help provide milk powder to assist 13 baby animals.
