Dogs can be every community’s friend
Nobody should ever have to deal with the pain of killing their own dog.
But that’s what happened to Eric, a 17-year-old student from Kenya’s Makueni county.
When one of his beloved dogs was bitten by another dog, Eric couldn’t run the risk that the other dog wasn’t infected with rabies. He had no choice but to put down his dog to protect his other animals, his family and his community.
Local communities are terrified of rabies. When the threat looms, people in Makueni county and other parts of Africa and Asia respond by killing dogs – usually inhumanely. Every year, countless stray and free-roaming dogs are the victims of horrific mass cullings, all in vain. Because killing dogs isn’t the answer to the spread of rabies. Vaccination is.
Every animal deserves a life without cruelty and suffering.
You can help us stop these futile, inhumane killings. With your help, we can end cruelty to dogs and create a world where humans and dogs can live together peacefully and safely.
Together, we can change dogs’ lives for good. And we must, because a life of pain and suffering is no life at all. Will you join us, and help give dogs lives worth living?
Please donate today to help protect dogs and animals around the world in need.
$13 could help treat 30 dogs with antibiotics to help fight infections and let their wounds heal
$30 could help vaccinate 30 dogs against rabies, protecting them from culls during an outbreak
$105 could help train one teacher to educate approximately 60 students on rabies, dog welfare and responsible dog ownership
