Bears aren’t pets. Bears belong in the wild.
Donna is one of a number of brown bears illegally held captive in small, rusty cages by a man we call Mr X*.
With no stimulation and little room to move, many bears held in such conditions take to pacing back and forth or pulling and biting at the bars of their cage in a desperate effort to get out.
Their teeth break. Their claws break off. Some bears suffer such intense mental distress that they start self-mutilating.
You could help us investigate conditions on Mr X’s property and work to save these bears, by relocating them to a sanctuary in the forests of central Romania.
Thanks to people like you, our partners, Asociatia Milioane de Prieteni (AMP), have rescued more than 80 bears from appalling conditions and have almost eradicated illegal bear ownership in Romania. We won’t stop until the job is done.
Wild animals aren’t private property.
Please donate today and help save animals around the world from suffering.
*We know who he is. But we have decided to conceal his identity, because we don’t want to undermine our work to rescue these bears from cruel captivity.
$38 could help investigate the conditions on Mr X’s property, giving us vital information as to Donna and the other bears health.
$68 could help us work to free Donna and the other bears and relocate them to the AMP forest sanctuary.
$148 could help pay for the ongoing costs of running the AMP sanctuary including food, veterinary care, and security for the bears.
Where your money goes
World Animal Protection has been protecting animals for over 50 years and we passionately believe that animals matter. With your support, we’ll go where animal suffering is most far-reaching and animal cruelty is most severe.
In 2015, 87% of funds raised went towards protecting animals in our four areas of work. We can ensure your vital donation is making the biggest impact for animals as possible and is helping achieve lasting change.
